Server Setup

In this tutorial I'll show you how to get your hosting server setup to install Joomla. I use ICDSoft - and have for almost 10 years. I recommend them highly. Any hosting company you choose should have a similar set up. Just be sure they meet the minimum requirements for Joomla.

Installing Joomla

In this walk-through you'll learn how to install Joomla on the server. I use ICDSoft as a Host/ISP so I'll be using them for this installation and examples. I also use FireFTP for an FTP client. It integrates with FireFox quite nicely.

Joomla Terminology

In this walk-through I'll go over some basic terminology in Joomla. It's mostly terms that you should be familiar with and that I'll be using throughout the rest of the articles.

Administrator Panel

In this walk-through you'll get the basics of the Administrator backend panel. I'll show you the main areas of the backend and what they are used for. You'll get a pretty good idea of how to navigate the control area of your site.

Global Configuration

In this walk-through we'll go over the Global Configuration area of Joomla's backend. The settings in this section control the Site, System, and Server options like e-mail, the default editor, metadata settings, SEO settings and more.
